CARDA Dogs

The Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA) is dedicated to saving the lives of avalanche victims through the use of highly trained dog and handler teams. Founded in 1978 with a handful of dog teams CARDA now maintains a network of over 30 dog and handler teams across western Canada.  CARDA teams are professional volunteers who have passed extensive training a certification courses and are used as rescue resources by commercial operations, provincial emergency program and the RCMP Police Dog Section.  Through partnerships with employers and the community, volunteer CARDA teams maintain operational readiness to respond to avalanche rescues throughout the winter months.

KHMR currently supports one fully validated avalanche rescue team with years of experience and two teams in training.  KHMR believes in supporting regional avalanche response capabilities and is proud to be represented by such dedicated volunteers.
