At 12:00pm a party reported an avalanche in Feuz Bowl to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort staff. The Resort’s Mountain Safety personal immediately activated their avalanche rescue plan. As part of this procedure the resort temporally closed all lifts for public upload.

The Champagne Powder Capital of Canada TM has received over 120cm of snow over the past seven days with the total snowfall to date surpassing 300cm. This weekend will mark a bonus weekend of operations, with the mountain opening for seven day a week operations on Friday December 9th.

To ensure the ongoing safety for guests and Boo, the Grizzly Bear, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be open with limited operations during the June 17th – 19th weekend. The Golden Eagle Express Gondola will be open for sightseeing access, with lunch service at the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant.

On Sunday, June 5th at approximately 9:30am Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Grizzly Bear Refuge personnel discovered an excavation under the perimeter fence line at the Grizzly Bear Refuge located on the mountain. The excavation was discovered during one of two daily perimeter checks. The Grizzly Bear known as Boo left his refuge during the evening of June 4th.

February 7th, 2011, Golden, BC…. It was arguably the biggest two-day big mountain showdown ever hosted in the west. This year’s Wrangle the Chute blew off the barn doors exceeding expectations and leaving spectators in complete awe. The showdown combined three unique elements including big mountain skiing / riding, a massive terrain park jump finishing off with a bucking bronco ride on the custom kicking horse – suspended between two snowcats, accompanied with a grandstand patio, live DJ and outdoor BBQ.

The biggest two-day big mountain freeride showdown in the west, Wrangle the Chute, returns to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort on February 5th and 6th. The showdown combines four unique elements including big mountain skiing / riding, a massive terrain park jump finishing off with a bucking bronco ride on the custom kicking horse – suspended between two snowcats - and a massive patio grandstand including live DJ’s and an outdoor BBQ at Kicking Horse’s Heaven’s Door Yurt Café. Athletes choose the line they want to ride and the tricks they want to attempt to impress the crowd while chasing a $2,500 cash purse and additional prizes.

The forces of La Nina have arrived and produced outstanding ski conditions at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. This winter storm cycle has dropped over 60cm of fresh snow in the past 24hrs over 80cm in the past 48hrs and snowfall is expected through until next Tuesday.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has been blanketed with over 22cm of fresh snow in the past 24hrs and over 36cm of snow over the past 7 days. Total season snowfall today has exceeded 300cm with a 132cm base at the mid-mountain. Conditions on the mountain are spectacular. Light snowfall is anticipated to continue through the weekend.
