Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and SE Racing have scheduled the Western Open for August 28th & 29th, 2010.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is gearing up for the 2010 mountain bike downhill race season and is pleased to be presenting the ‘Western Open’ downhill race, the BC Cup Finals & the first ever dual sanction Alberta and BC Cup race, on August 28th & 29th. The KHMR events team is focused on supporting the progression and development of downhill mountain bike races and is confident this race will be a great addition to both the BC and Alberta Cup circuit.
This will be the first ever dual sanctioned downhill race and the BC Cup Finals. This combination will make for an extremely successful weekend with 300 racers anticipated to enter the event.

Sign up early and WIN! Spank Industries is donating a 2010 Puff bike frame as draw prize to one of the first hundred riders to register on Cyclingbc.net for the Western Open. The winning entrant will be randomly drawn from the first hundred registered for the race and must be present at the Western Open to claim his or her prize and at the Saturday night party at the time of the draw.
As well, the first hundred riders to register for the Western Open will also receive a custom designed cow bell donated by Kicking Horse Ford. Cow bells will be handed out at the Western Open registration desk during open registration hours.
Along with regular DH race classes the events team is introducing a unique feature at the Western Open. We will be running an open age and ability Hard Tail category sponsored by Urie Dog Hand Made Bikes. Cost will be an additional $5.00 to add this onto any registered category / $40.00 if only running the hard tail class alone + day license if required. (No series points will be awarded in this category) Prizes will include and one of kind Urie Dog handmade frame, hoodies, T-shirts and more.
